Late winter road trip.

Last year I delivered some magnetos to Lindom in Sweden for repair. He is located some 500 km from me, so it is not often I go there. The Mooneyes Bike Show was coming up…..and the MC collection museum is not far away. I invited some friends and we had an instant weekend road trip..

Recycling.

Some years ago I went to the Manx Grand Prix. As the good husband I am, I bought my wife a present: gold ear jewelry with the three legs of Mann. But surprise, me and my wife have different taste……The gift was left unused in her drawer….

But now I need some bling for a Norton, so late one night I reprocessed the gift…

This will most certainly make the bike go faster, and Isle of Mans motto: "Quocunque Jeceris Stabit" "Whithersoever you throw it, it will stand" will make sense when I go arse over tit ….

High Speed Motorcycling.

These brake linings came with some Norton 16 H parts. I did not know that 16H`s are capable of high speed….But only the best are good enough…..

Chrome won’t get you home.

This 1944 Norton 16H was found last year.

It had been resting behind a pile of planks since 1963. The Norton arrived to the Norwegian army in the late forties. There is nothing known about the bikes history. When it was discovered it still had the tags from the army auction, dated 1963. It had never been registered for civil road use. 

It might look worn out but the bike is in good working order. The bike will be kept like this, only the necessary repairs will be done.

Big 4 summer.

This summer I have been riding the Norton Big 4 a lot. It was ready in spring and I had some miles on it before it was passed over to Gunnar who rode it in “Trondhejms ridtet” He liked it so much that he did not want to return it….

Why my hands seldom are clean…..adjustments.

When you lend somebody your bike, you get the privilege to mend it. A puncture in middle of nowhere, “Trondhjemsridtet” (I will post some pictures from the rally soon). Just imagine the sound of banjos.

I had ambitions to get the Steib LS 200 sidecar on the Norton this summer. The sidecar body needs more work than I first thought. …..But next year it will be ready?

The sidecar passenger has already started to line up. First in the queue is my friend Lotte.

Spring riding.

 

There is nothing like riding in warm spring weather. You can smell the woods, fields and the lily of the valley……Mix that with the smell of a dynamo who have decided to call it a day, and you have the ultimate “scratch and sniff” experience…

Well, people my age have nothing to do out after dark anyway…

 

 

 

 

 

National motorcycle museum visit.

 

 You are not supposed to go behind ropes to get a closer look at the displays……but you can’t stop thru enthusiasts…. I won`t bring them to a zoo…..

Norton CS1

My 1937 Norton CS1 out in the fresh spring air. It need some work before i can hear the roar out of the Brooklands can.

In a weak moment I offered to lend out my Norton Big4 to Gunnar for the rally “TRONDHJEMSRIDTET”. That means I have to get the bike ready soon. And the Norton has to be able to do the more than 2000 kilometer trip without too much trouble. New tires, rewound magneto and lights that work…..Gunnar sent over Justin to lace up the front wheel…..He turned out to be to clumsy to get the wheel straight….Stick to singing Justin….

This is the last post from the England expedition. We don`t want to be one track minded(!) so we went to an air plane museum too……
