First ride this year.

I don`t mind shoveling snow…..It might be that I am getting old …..or just that I am Norwegian…

I don`t mind playing in the snow either…..

An Idiot Abroad...or two?

A “friend” phoned me and asked why I never had any photos of my wife or other ladies on my blog….Well, on the web there are sites that specialize in photos of females…in all shapes and sizes….Anyway Gunnar is my own Karl Pilkington (So that makes me the vintage bike blogger answer to Ricky Gervais….)

Just to rub it in….Two male idiots abroad:

It is not hard for me to look ridiculous.

I want them…..all…

Yes….I does know you got one of these….

Well Gunnar…..Size does matter….

Yes…I do know you like the BSA power egg….Hence the title of this blog piece…

The legendary bike.

The legendary rider.

Hmmmm…….nice legs…..

That’s one of the bucket list, Gunnar.

Summer riding.

First weekend of my holiday, vintage rally, working on bikes, party and swimming…..And the best weather for years……What more can a man want?

At the test ride, we discovered that the Ariel needed a new front brake cable to be made.

The Dakota DC 3 from the local airport does some flyovers at my house and makes a sound that suits working on old bikes.

Well I have holiday so I decided to look sharp…..Who knows, there might be some nice girls at the rally……

I was told by a friend that I looked like an accountant from Stockton up on Trent who has embezzled funds to get a Sunbeam.......... So much for my effort to dress up……

The boys are lining up.

Christian “Slooper” Nielsen is very cheerful today.

“You just keep the throttle wide open until you get to the tight right hander after the hill…..”

Reidar don`t miss a chance to use his leather hosen….I do think he shall use them more.

Per Braaten`s tricky Gold Star.

Well, it`s off with the tweed and leather and time for a swim…….and a cold beer…..

It`s time for some green laning.

Last night I wanted to go riding on some gravel roads. The Ariel has not been used for a long time….in fact more than a year. I remember there were some things I had to fix before going…

It always starts at first kick…

The speedo does not work….

Yes, I lost the tool box knob (and all my tools…) and replaced it with a screw. I am sure I have another somewhere….

Check the oil…..

Duct taped light switch need some work…..

No lights…loose and broken cables.
Some hours of repair is needed. I will do that ride another day….

Garage winter meeting

This time of year there is not much happening for the vintage motorcyclists. Most are at home working on their projects and try to keep worm.

So when we got an invitation for a garage meeting with the boys with pizza, drinks and technical challenges. We were in for a great evening….

The “runners” where out in the cold garage for the occasion:

Some people have spotless garages; here you can have your dinner at the floor…

Ariel Red Hunter……We will soon have a look at the engine for this bike.

Ardie with Rudge engine and Burman gearbox.  This rear old racer is soon reborn.

I can spot one engine out of line…..

Ducati Cucciolo, 50 ccm of brute force….

Steady on with the drinks boys…..and yes, I do think the Suzuki  GS750 is faster than a BSA A-65….

We were put to work….The main topic of the evening was to dismantle and diagnose an Ariel Red Hunter engine.

The reason for a sore head…..and a worn head….

We all have different skills, some like to hit things.

This was how far we got. I think we have to be invited again!

No more Ariel engine work…….Let`s eat!

I  hope Hans Torvald remembered to recycle his thrash. It`s so easy to throw a Rudge engine in the paper bin…

We were asked to sit down at the toilet…..Why?
