Well, I think the photos speak for themselves. Kjetil is trying to mold their kids from a very early age. Wonder if he has heard of reverse psychology, they will probably end up hating Norton’s and………become cowboys

Oslo by Norton.

Last Saturday’s motorcycle trip cased me some problems. The Norton is not the fastest machine produced….The more modern and faster bikes disappeared and I missed the last post.

But the reason for bringing the underpowered Norton to Oslo was to take some photos and ride in the path of the bike that has the same registration number as mine.

When King Haakon returned home after the war there where two Norton 16H`s riding beside his car. The left one has “my” number……

Not in uniform, but happy to ride a bike good enough for a king.  The Norton are marking the territory with extra much SAE 50 today because of pure joy to be in Oslo.

Kjetil, my guide in the urban mess of one way streets and red lights are preparing the `52 Triumph Thunderbird.

Marc`s Thomann

When I was waiting for the “Teddy run” to start, I heard the familiar sound of a sporty single. I could not identify the bike at first glance. To my surplice it was French made Thomann from 1929, 350cc.

And what a fine bike it was. The Thomann is a great looking bike with a lot of crafty details.

 

Marc Boniface, Frenchman living in Norway, have done a great job on this bike.

You can operate the clutch with hand and foot.

A ride with a vintage bike is not complete without “adjustments”.  Fine tuning of the Pilgrim type oil pump where carried out at the motorway. I had to secure my dynamo at the same place…..

Well….I had to include this picture….Marc accidentally put diesel on the bike….Drained the tank and made a nice pond at the petrol station. The petrol station staff was not impressed….

Saturday was a warm and sunny day, perfect for a long ride. We fired up the bikes and rode in to Oslo and Teddy’s soft bar, the start for the yearly Teddy run. Teddy`s are located in a pedestrian zone so the shoppers are not used to motorcycles on their turf…

Teddy`s soft bar was established in 1958 and have more or less kept the original interior.

Not often to see a road legal Seeley. Morten arrives with his fine Seeley Norton.

I know two Seeley owners and they both have mustache. Coincidence? I don`t think so. There must be a conspiracy between Pringles and Seeley owners.

This nice BSA and Teddy`s soft bar are nearly the same age.

Well, I have heard that size matters…..Kjetil, get yourself a Gold Wing.

Oil tank capacity has to suffer for air flow. But you save a lot of money at each oil change!

This weekend i went in to Oslo to do the "Teddy run" on my Norton 16H. Stayed at my friend Kjetil`s place and got treated with nice wine and barbercue......But the after dinner drinks where quite special.......They where to symbolize the bike brands we where going to ride in the morning: Triumph and Norton.

"Tomsing vann" (loonie water, word play on the TOMCC club name) and El Che grappa. Both wery special:

The bootle of "Tomsing vann" is the price Kjetil won at the Britannia rally 2001. Best modified bike and best cafe racer (Featherbed, Commando engine).

"El Che" a gift from me, carried on my back for miles....Kjetil have stored it for years....Che Guevara was a Norton man.

This drink took 3 years of my life expectancy!

My brother Dag was firing up the Velocette today.

It`s not easy to tickle a Thruxton, you need a long screw driver.

Modern police equipment!

This must be the only motorized police vehicle I have a fair chance to escape from with my Norton 16H. When will Norway do like France and get scooters?

Just back from Paris with my family. After days of  Eiffeld tower, Louvre, Notre Dame, food, wine, Lido and Pastis.

I needed some culture so I went to the Rocker speed shop.

 All you want for your rocker life style.

I like tools, good tools that will last.....Noting to do with bikes, but one of my sons are training to be a chef. We went to E. Dehillerin (est 1820) to see where the professionals get their pots and pans. Tools of the trade where bought and I am looking forward to taste the results....
